Midnight Owl

The writings of KPH

A Still Night’s Sorrow

My shadow is pain.
Kept in check by sun and pill;
Consuming at night.

Sleepy Time.

As the hours evade my watching gaze,

My eyes begin to darken.

As the moon awakes from her blissful slumber,

My legs forfeit and lie.

As the owl sings and coyotes cry,

 My lullaby resides.

My dearest sleeps, on another street,

My hands reach out for her.

I write this now, for you to see,

When the morning comes, and you have to pee.

I tried to rhyme, but it kinda sucks,

He slapped a fish, She ate his cake.

I’m done with this, I need my sleep,

I’ll write again, this promise I keep.
